Career Profile

Thompson Izuagie is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry, National Open University of Nigeria, Abuja. His academic career started as a Lecturer at the Department of Natural Sciences, the Polytechnic of Sokoto State (now Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic). He then moved to the Department of Chemistry, Sokoto State University as Lecturer II in 2013 and rose to become Senior Lecturer in 2020. At Sokoto State University, Thompson was Ag. Director, Division of General Studies and Ag. Director, Research and Development Centre (TETFund Centre of Excellence); Senate Rep to A and PC, PG Coordinator, Department of Chemistry, Website Co-ordinator for the Faculty of Science; Faculty Advisor of ACS SSU International Student Chapter and Managing Editor of the Caliphate Journal of Science and Technology (CaJoST). He joined the National Open University of Nigeria in 2023. Thompson was a Visiting Research Fellow, at Ulm University, Germany where he worked with Prof. Dr. Carsten Streb under the TWAS-DFG programme.
