Dr. Musa Runde is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Chemistry at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). He holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Modibbo Adama University of Technology, an M.Sc. in Petroleum Chemistry from Usman Danfodio University, and a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Maiduguri. With over a decade of university teaching and research experience, he has developed expertise in organic, petroleum, and computational chemistry, as well as natural products and materials science.
His research focuses on natural products and phytomedicine, sustainable energy, computational design of nanomaterials for catalysis and environmental remediation, and maternal health innovation. He is the innovator of Safe-Mum, a smart device for early detection of postpartum hemorrhage. Dr.Runde has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers, including 28 indexed in Scopus, in reputable journals such as Results in Chemistry, Journal of Hazardous Materials Advances, and Materials Chemistry and Physics.
