Career Profile

Dr. Akeem B. Disu is a seasoned Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Sciences of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). He holds a B.Sc. Degree in Mathematics from Lagos State University, Ojo and M.Sc. Degree in Applied Mathematics from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye. He bagged a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the Department of Mathematics, University of Ilorin, Ilorin. He joined service of NOUN as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics on 2nd November, 2011. Due to his dedication and hard working, he rose to the position of Senior Lecturer in the Department. He was the Deputy Examination Officer of the Faculty of Sciences from 2015 – 2017. He was also, the Head of Mathematics from 2017 – 2023. He is currently Acting Director, Benin study Centre, NOUN from 2023 still date. He had served in various committees of Senate, Faculty and research.

Dr. Akeem is a prolific researcher who has published 52 Articles in Major Journal Articles, Refereed Conference Proceedings, Chapters in Books and Text Book. These publications are referenced in Google Scholar, Sciencedirect, Scopus, Open Access journals, CAB Abstract, Researchgate, Academia, Slidershare, Sematic Scholar, etc.

Dr. Akeem has teaching experience in the conventional tertiary education system and is also vast in Open and distance education.

Dr. Akeem B. Disu is an academic staff and a seasoned administrator. He heads the Department of Mathematics from 2017-2023. He is currently Acting Director, Benin Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) from 2023 to date.

Dr. Akeem has 13 years’ experience in teaching and researching in NOUN. He has been teaching Mathematics and Statistics courses in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Information Technology, and Education programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has effectively communicated his research finding at different level of scientific conferences, trainings and workshops.
